The Serinyà Prehistoric Caves park was occupied by different populations from the beginning of the Middle Paleolithic (now about 200,000 years ago) until the age of metals (now 3,100 years ago).

Three human species have lived in this unique place over the millennia.

This Park is considered the best site in Western Europe to learn about the transition from Neanderthal man to modern man.

Recent studies have shown that a skull found in the Serinyà caves is the oldest modern human (homo sapiens) remains in Catalonia.
